Dr. Biraj Jyoti Goswami

Dr. Biraj Jyoti Goswami is a seasoned ophthalmic expert in cataract, cornea and lacrimal disorders accompanied by 18 years of professional experience.

Dr. Goswami’s career got underway as soon as he completed Master of Surgery (MS) in 1987. He settled on teaching activities at Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Guwahati which he dedicatedly carried through for a period of seven years as an Assistant Professor. He subsequently joined Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati as Founder Senior Consultant and devoted a decade of service at the premier institution. In 2005, Dr. Goswami founded Guwahati Eye Hospital & Research Centre as a joint venture with four partners which has now grown into one of the oldest and most productive eye care facilities in North East India. The hospital which is always at the forefront of ophthalmic care caters to the eye care needs of rural Assam at an affordable cost.

Dr. Goswami's extensive experience in paper presentations includes a tally of over 100 state and zonal, around 76 national and 6 international presentations to his credit. On two occasions, Dr. Goswami has been presented with the Best Paper Award in Lacrimal at AIOS conference. In his research pursuits, Dr. Goswami has covered topics related to Dry Eye, Lacrimal Surgery and Phaco in complex situations. Presently, Dr. Goswami efficiently shoulders the responsibility of an Academic Organiser and is continously engaged in training programs and other educational activities.
